This page will provide brief descriptions of linked pages that illustrate scenes and characters and objects in the novel The Shipping News. Many of the images presented here are original. Please let us know if you want to copy them. We have tried to provide credit for images we have borrowed from other sources and have sought permission (copyright approval) whenever possible.

Donna has provided a number of photographs to illustrate a variety of scenes and terms in the novel. She has also provided commentary and a picture to illustrate the dangers of boats and fishing in Newfoundland.
